BEEF

May is BEEF month! In the last few years, our American culture has people straying away from beef more and more. You can find anything on the internet that aligns your beliefs, BUT I truly want to encourage all the readers to cook BEEF. Grass-Fed or Grain-Fed – they are both good options and most importantly, great nutrition for you! Our local grocery meat department, butcher shops or any rancher will be able to help answer any of your questions.

Folks county-wide are still branding and will be for another few weeks. Isn’t it wonderful? I think so!

The weather is getting warmer and more people are taking a sunday cruise style of drive. You will see some tractors and other equipment in the fields as farmers & ranchers are starting more spring work – seeding! Another year of planting seeds in the ground and praying for rain. Ripping up older hay fields to replant them again. They do this to be able to make feed for the cows to eat throughout the winter months. Please be mindful of moving equipment on the roads!

Sirloin steaks typically don’t have much fat on them. Always slice against the grain. They can get a little tough or chewy if they are cooked like the other traditional types of steaks because of that missing fat. I use them for steak bites, fajitas or philly cheesesteak sandwiches for a few examples.
